When we first arrived at our hotel, B Historic Savannah, I asked the front desk as well as concierge what would be a great place to eat? They both suggested Crystal's Beer Parlor, which was less than a 5 minute walking distance from the hotel. So we had to try it.
When you walk in you can tell this restaurant has a lot of history, just by looking at all the pics on the wall.
We was greeted by 2 friendly and just hosts. The wait was about 30 mins., but that gave you time to look at menu and take in the history of the restaurant. Which I found out that it's the longest serving restaurant in Savannah.
Our waitress (on both days) was Candance, she was very friendly and offered great suggestions on what to eat and drink.
My three favorite things on the first day we ate there, that Candance suggested was the peach cobbler, gumbo, and Moscow mule!! When I tell you the peach cobbler was the best peach cobbler I ever had!! The crust was homemade and oh so flaky, the peaches were caramlized to perfection. The Moscow mule was so good as well, I couldn' stop drinking it. The gumbo was great! That was my first timne eating gumbo. It had chicken, white rice, okra, and sausage in it. I took a bowl home!
My other two favorite thibgs on the 2nd day, both suggested by Candance, was the fried pound cake and the gravy from the country fried steak!! Eating that fried pound cake was like heaven! It tasted almost like a funnel cake but better. The gravy from the country fried steak should be bottled up and sold. It was so rich and creamy.
Crystals Beer Parlor is a must eat location when you are in Savannah. Ask for Candance.
